Film doesn't last forever

Cellulose acetate film (used in most 8mm and Super 8) shrinks and becomes brittle with age. Vinegar syndrome — a distinctive smell and buckling of the film — is a sign of irreversible decay. Many Waikato families have reels they've never been able to watch because they no longer have a working projector. We can digitise them regardless.
